Golden Century BBQ

Sydney’s hospitality scene went into panic mode when news broke that one of the city’s most famous eateries, Golden Century Seafood Restaurant, had gone into administration and would close after 32 years.
The restaurant is still sorely missed today. But some of its most famous dishes live on around the corner at XOPP – the Wong family’s upscale restaurant at the Exchange Building in Darling Square – and this fast-casual eatery just below it.
Golden Century BBQ is nothing like its sibling upstairs, or the original mega Cantonese restaurant. It's a fast-casual eatery where you order from the window and then find a seat in the food court, which we’ll admit is much fancier than the average.
But most importantly, it’s serving a bunch of Golden Century signatures. The big ticket items include barbequed char siu pork, crispy pork belly, duck or soy-marinated chicken served with rice or springy noodles. To those you can add housemade XO sauce – the co-star in Golden Century’s most famous dish – for an extra $4.
Otherwise there’s a selection of short soups and house-made dim sum (prawn har gow, pork siu mai, custard lava buns) made to order.
