When the new Allianz Stadium (aka the Sydney Football Stadium) officially opens on August 28, it’ll also see the launch of 64 food and beverage outlets operated by hospitality behemoth Merivale. It follows Merivale’s takeover of the hospitality offering at neighbouring Sydney Cricket Ground last year – and even those who don’t give a fig about sports might be tempted to make the trek to Moore Park, with some of Merivale’s most popular diners, run by the company’s best-known executive chefs, opening in the stadium.
Dan Hong will launch Ms G’s Noodles & Dumplings, a spin-off of the popular Potts Point eatery. Hong’s cult-favourite cheeseburger spring rolls will be there, alongside har gow (steamed pork dumplings), pork buns and salt-and-pepper squid.
Executive chef Mike Eggert will distil the spirit of his hugely popular Bondi diner Totti’s into Totti’s Pasta Bar. It’ll serve an array of antipasti (including tomatoes, mortadella, burrata and marinated peppers), as well as fettuccine with stracciatella, bolognaise pappardelle and the Bondi restaurant’s famed Neapolitan ice-cream sandwich.

SIGN UPNewport fine-diner Bert’s will head to the inner city, under the guidance of executive chef Jordan Toft – and despite the stadium setting, it won’t be a grab-and-go affair. Take a seat for oysters, duck liver pate, grilled lobster in garlic butter and Wagyu sirloin with bearnaise sauce.
More casual options will also be available, including wraps from Jimmy’s Falafel; Queen Chow dumplings; tacos and hot dogs from El Loco; smash burgers, sushi and fish’n’chips from an iteration of the SCG’s Burger Shack; chicken and burgers from Chicken Shop; and pizza.
Plus, if you’ve always imagined sipping a Martini or Negroni while watching your favourite team have at it, there’ll be an extensive cocktail list, as well as plenty of wine and beer options.
All private function rooms, suites, outdoor terraces and private boxes will be catered for by Merivale, and the whole shebang will be overseen by one of Merivale’s executive chefs, Vincenzo Biondini.
The new stadium opens on August 28 with a free community event and performances by Guy Sebastian and Baker Boy. The Sydney Roosters will play their first game in their new home ground on September 2, while Bruno Mars will play the official opening concerts on October 14 and 15.
