The space and white timber in The Academy Brand’s new stand-alone store in Paddington has a calming effect. A bigger footprint means full embodiment of the brand’s easy-going, American-vintage aesthetic mixed with preppy undertones and Aussie spirit.
The Academy Brand’s focus on casual, quality designs for the man who doesn’t want to try too hard to look good is well showcased. A custom-made chino bar here, a simple display of board shorts there and more chambray shirts than Paul Newman could shake a stick at.
Planted in between are covetable accessories and grooming products from other Australian and international designers including Local Supply sunglasses, Sunnylife towels, Spring Court sneakers and Baxter of California pomades and soaps.

SIGN UPVintage furnishings, industrial light fittings, nautical touches, plants and old Penguin Classics ensure there’s something to eye up at every turn.
“The additional space has allowed us to design a layout that takes the customer on a journey through The Academy Brand,” says founder and creative director Anthony Pitt. “We wanted the layout to give customers many points of interest so they feel compelled to walk the whole store. We haven’t tried to be different to our other stores. Just bigger. In all our stores from the moment customers enter they should be immersed in The Academy Brand. Paddington is no exception.”
