Old Fashioned Week Specials and Masterclass at Websters Bar

The history of the Old Fashioned dates back to the early 1800s. Said to have originated in the US, the cocktail is made by mixing sugar syrup with cocktail bitters and adding bourbon or rye whisky, then garnishing with a twist of citrus rind. It’s since been a mainstay of cocktail bars the world over.

Woodford Reserve premium bourbon is celebrating the drink with a week (and more) of Old Fashioned offerings at venues, bars and restaurants all over the world. In Sydney, some of the city’s best bars are taking part.

One of those is Websters Bar in Newtown. With over 1,100 unique whiskies on their back bar and said to have the second biggest whisky collection in Australia, Old Fashioned week celebrations will kick-off a month long special offering of a limited whisky flight, a Woodford Reserve-inspired food offering and a bespoke Old Fashioned.

The include a twist on the classic cocktail with Websters Woodford Reserve Personal Selection 2019 Old Fashioned with maple and plum bitters, a paired food offering of Woodford & Waffles, ie: buttermilk fried chicken and waffle soldiers with Woodford Reserve maple hot sauce, and a flight of three Woodford Bourbons - Websters Personal Selection 2019, Woodford Reserve Double Oak, and the Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Very Fine Rare Bourbon.

On Wednesday 11 November it will also host a two-hour masterclass for those looking to learn more about bourbon. The A Spectacle for the Senses Masterclass run by Woodford Reserve Brand Ambassador Andy Tsai, will feature a tasting of the Woodford Reserve core range, one of the Master's Collection releases, and the Woodford Master’s Collection Very Fine Rare expression, with paired appetisers and a complimentary Chocolate Boulevardier upon arrival

The special offerings meanwhile will extend through the duration of Old Fashioned Week, which runs November 5-14. Book tickets.
