Sydney just got a scenic new addition to its water frontage - in time for Vivid Sydney.

The Squire’s Landing, perched alongside Campbell’s Cove is the latest brewhouse from James Squire. Featuring a freestanding, glass-walled microbrewery, the venue – which opened on Friday May 25 – has been designed to offer striking views both inside and out, giving punters the opportunity to enjoy panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour bridge and Opera House, or peer in from the exterior to see the beer-brewing process in action.

As well as the glass-walled microbrewery, The Squire’s Landing boasts multiple external decks and terraces offering a spectacular open-air dining experience and a cosy spot to relax inside and watch the harbour flow by. The internal design of The Squire’s Landing has been formulated to preserve the original design of the steel structure Lawrence Nield and Peter Tonkin drafted for the Overseas Passenger Terminal in 1988.

Peter Merrington, the venue’s head brewer, is permanently based onsite, crafting exclusive small-batch brews, as well as James Squire limited releases in addition to the existing range of nine beers and ciders.

“We have some of the freshest beer being served in Sydney and a range exclusive to The Squire’s Landing,” says Merrington. “The venue also honours the legend that is James Squire at the same location where he first set foot on Australian soil almost 230 years ago.”

The Squire’s Landing is one of the only places in Australia to serve the world’s oldest surviving beer – made new. The Wreck Preservation Ale is a limited-edition beer, crafted using 220-year old yeast discovered in the depths of one of Australia’s oldest merchant shipwrecks, the Sydney Cove.

Get down to The Squire’s Landing during Vivid Sydney (May 25-June 16) to oversee the Opera House sails lit up in all its neon glory.
