Fratelli Fresh Long Lunch
This year Aperol celebrates 100 years of being the centerpiece to a timeless Italian tradition – friends and family meeting over an afternoon feast.
To mark the occasion, Fratelli Fresh Darling Harbour will host an expertly curated Venetian long lunch on Saturday July 20. The four-course menu includes marinated sardines with onion, raisins and pine nuts, cod brandade crostinis, squid ink risotto, and chicken with Venetian potatoes. Fritole (little doughnuts) will be served alongside a tangy Aperol sorbet for dessert. Lunch includes two hours of Aperol spritz, wine and beer.
In addition, all Fratelli Fresh restaurants will offer two Aperol spritzes and marinated olives for $19.19 (1919 being the year Aperol was born) in July.
Aperol is the most recognisable afternoon drink served in traditional bàcari (Venetian bars), but the exact herbs used in the recipe – invented 100 years ago by brothers Luigi and Silvio Barbieri in Padua – remain a secret. The name is a deliberate play on apéro, the French slang for apéritif.
Tickets for the Fratelli Fresh Long Lunch are $100. More details here.
