The Dinner Party
One of Queensland’s leading contemporary dance companies is set to perform in Sydney this month.
Expressions Dance Company is renowned for its innovative and dynamic theatre works, and The Dinner Party is no exception.
The production centres around a dinner party and the influential young man who hosts the evening. Characters are thrown into a chaotic maelstrom of greed, ambition and jealousy in an energetic portrayal of power. Tensions arise across the table and the audience is exposed to each guest’s desire for status and control.
Choreographer Natalie Weir, the company’s former artistic director, demonstrates her sharp and thrilling style in this piece. Classical group Southern Cross Soloists provide the music for the show, and Australian designer Gail Sorronda has designed the costumes.
Performances will begin at 7.45pm on June 13, 14 and 15. There will be a matinee at 2.15pm on June 15.
