In a post-lockout, mid-pandemic world, Merivale’s mega nightclub space Ivy was due for a shake-up. The Sydney CBD venue has transformed its dance-floor area into a super club – one that will flex and adapt to make each party feel different.
It’s also partnered with creative festival-throwers Lost Paradise to introduce a new weekly day party, with house, disco and techno on high rotation. Lost Sundays kicks off from Sunday May 30.
Saturday-night party Poof Doof returns with big queer energy. RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under stars Coco Jumbo and Jojo Zaho and beloved queen Courtney Act are some of the names you can expect to see performing at the revamped dance party, alongside hosts Sia Tequila and Jimi The Kween. And rooftop party Boogie is back for glittering disco at the refreshed poolside bar.

SIGN UPMerivale CEO Justin Hemmes says it’s part of his vision to supercharge Sydney’s CBD night-life offering. “We have a huge space with few limitations. That gives us amazing potential to create these wonderful, mini-festival experiences,” he says in a statement.
For Hemmes, it’s about adding to the diversity of experiences available in the city after dark. Merivale is also focusing its efforts on evolving the Ivy laneway with new eateries. Jimmy’s Underground is set to open in June, which will add a late-opening disco bar to the precinct, and more restaurants will be announced later this year.
Outside the CBD, Merivale is delivering 200 live-music gigs at Coogee Pavilion, The Royal Bondi, The Beresford and Vic on the Park. Merivale’s head of music and entertainment Nick van Tiel says the weekly shows will help support Australian-based DJs and musicians. “We want to support the industry and communities that bring our spaces to life,” he says.
