Matt Robertson, the managing director of licenced brands at Alquemie, Lego’s Australian retail partner, says the Danish megabrand’s new Sydney store will “fulfill all the building dreams” of western Sydney’s Lego-lovers. The new 207-square-metre store opens on level 2 of Westfield Penrith on August 6 and will stock a huge selection of Lego sets, including fan favourites, seasonal drops and rare editions. It joins other Sydney Lego stores in Broadway Shopping Centre, Westfield Bondi Junction and Sydney domestic airport.

Robertson says a visit to the new store will be an “interactive and joyful experience”, with a number of features unique to the location. A 3D firefighter has been constructed from 46,394 Lego bricks – it took more than 240 hours to build. And a huge 3D mosaic of the Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains, not too far from Penrith, took 384 hours to construct from 45,433 bricks.

A host of other Lego store signatures will also be in place. A Pick a Brick wall gives you the chance to select specific pieces of Lego for your next brick creation, while the Build a Minifigure station lets punters mix and match heads, hair, clothes and accessories to create their own bespoke Lego figure. And Lego’s team of “brick specialists” will be on hand to “help you with all your building needs”, says Robertson.

“Our goal at these stores is to make the experience of Lego unforgettable. [And to] make the process of shopping for Lego as exciting as building with it.”
