Mary’s Underground
Features
Mary's Underground is a bar and live-music venue in the space formerly occupied by The Basement, a legendary jazz club that entertained Sydney for 45 years.
The venue’s hallowed stage has hosted some of the most famous musicians of all time, including Herbie Hancock and Prince. These days the line-up swings between emerging Sydney acts and overseas touring artists. There’s an anything-goes approach to genre, and you’re just as likely to catch smooth soul as you are full throttle rock’n’roll.
This being a Mary’s venue, the wine list leans Australian, natural and organic. And if need a bite to eat before or after the show, head to Mary’s Circular Quay upstairs for one of the city’s best burgers.
