Source Foods brings a little slice of sustainable comfort to its busy Highgate location. The team is passionate about food that hasn't travelled far to your plate, and which is ethically and organically grown (where possible). Even the takeaway containers are sustainable.

The list of food suppliers is a who’s who of local, small-batch producers, including organic bread from Abhi’s Bread and handmade bagels from Sweet Dreams. WA roaster, Pound, supplies the house-blend coffee and single-origin brews. For something caffeine-free, Red Espresso supplies espresso-style drinks made from rooibos tea.

Much of the food is made in-house, including the jam (organic fruit, of course), gluten-free banana bread and Grandma’s Chocolate Cheesecake – an addiction-forming slice of silken goodness. Kudos to Grandma Florence, who really did provide the recipe. The cake cabinet also includes raw and vegan-friendly sweets.

The all-day breakfast menu takes in simple crowd favourites, such as eggs benedict on toasted brioche with rocket, and vegan-friendly options including house granola. Lunch dishes include classic sandwiches such as the steak with pesto, onion jam and house aioli; or the Reuben with Capel cheddar, beef pastrami and sauerkraut. For vegans, there are dishes such as a tempeh burger with vegan pesto.
