Hush Specialty Coffee
Features
In a former life, Dan Leppard spent his days dealing with tax and accounting. Today the self-confessed “caffiend” oversees Hush Specialty Coffee in Fremantle. While the winning combination of exposed brick, well-worn timber flooring and natural light draws fans, they invariably stay for the coffee.
The house blend contains direct-trade beans roasted by Five Senses. Five Senses purchases directly from the farmers and pays the middleman fee to the producers instead, ensuring a long, mutually beneficial relationship. In addition to the house blend, single-origin blends are available as espresso, batch and cold-drip brews.
The food at Hush is as much of a draw, and customers make fast work of the sandwiches, bagels and baked goods – think banana bread and savoury muffins – on display at the counter. Breakfast is served daily. Organic Loafers provides the bread, and Get Fresh Merchants ensures the larder at Hush remains well stocked with local vegetables and fruit. A fondness for beautifully arranged flora – either in the cafe itself or in the planter boxes outside – suits the boho location.
