NBA City Court Mural Melbourne
It’s not often you see the likes of Ben Simmons, Matisse Thybulle and Patty Mills at one of the city’s busiest basketball courts, at RMIT A’Beckett Urban Square in Melbourne. But now they reside there permanently.
That’s thanks to a new 40-metre long NBA-branded mural designed to celebrate every Australian currently playing in the NBA. Emblazoned across the surrounding wall and sideline of the court, the custom piece is by Sydney artist Kris Andrew Small, whose vivid typographic work has been seen in conjunction with the likes of Adidas, Gucci, the Australian Open and more.
Riffing on the iconic blue, red and white colours of the NBA logo, the sprawling piece features the phrase “We are non stop” alongside names from the current roster of Australian NBA players. They include veterans like Patty Mills, Joe Ingles and Matthew Dellavedova, established players in their prime like Ben Simmons and Matisse Thybulle, as well as rising stars in Josh Giddey, Jock Landale and Josh Green.
The mural can be seen at RMIT A’Beckett Urban Square, located on A’Beckett Street and Stewart Street in central Melbourne. And for those still in off-season shape, know the 2022-2023 NBA season kicks off October 19, 2022. Sign up to NBA League Pass and watch every game – including the ever-growing crew of Aussie NBA players – from the comfort of your couch.
