Free Bao for National Bao Day
Goldie Asian Canteen + Brews is a casual city eatery with some serious culinary pedigree, with head chef Michael Smith (Mamasita, Tonka, now-closed Jacques Reymond) in charge of the food.
Dishes here riff mostly on Cantonese and Japanese fare, but you’ll find flavours from across Asia scattered throughout the snack-centric menu.
To celebrate National Bao Day on Thursday August 22, Goldie will be handing out 600 free bao buns. Choose from deep-fried Szechuan-spiced eggplant; braised pork belly with pickled mustard greens; and fried chicken with Sriracha Kewpie mayo, pickled carrot, coriander and daikon.
The free bao is limited to one per person, but you can upgrade to a full lunch with some of Goldie's prawn and pork siu mai and a boozy bubble tea.
From 12pm to 2pm. Limit one free bao per person.
