A Chorus Line at The National Theatre
When it premiered in 1975, Broadway musical A Chorus Line was a smash hit, winning nine Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Now a new production will show Melbourne audiences the glitz, glam and gloom of life on Broadway.
Not-for-profit, independent musical theatre company Theatrical is staging the award-winning musical at The National Theatre in St Kilda. It’s the company’s follow-up to recent productions The Sound of Music and The Boy From Oz.
Iconic musical numbers like One and What I Did for Love, spellbinding dance routines, and an honest story that captures the inner lives of Broadway dancers giving their all for a spot in a show have catapulted A Chorus Line into a musical beloved by theatregoers for generations.
Opera Australian alum Julian Dods stars as Zach, the director of the gruelling audition at the centre of the story. Teresa Giansiracusa plays unapologetic performer Diana, alongside Oscar Waters IV, Thomas Boyd and Lyla Digrazia.
