Digital illustrations (of worms, daisies, butterflies and leaves) meet analogue art styles like ceramics and screen-printing at this vivid and playful exhibition.
A squiggly worm crawling on a leaf under the sun. A ladybug taking refuge under mushrooms. A daisy crying after losing a couple of petals.
These are just some of the figures, shapes and characters depicted in Wiradjuri-Scottish woman April Phillips’ solo exhibition at Lamington Drive. She’s currently artist-in-residence at Megalo Print Studio in the ACT, and her pieces on display combine digital illustration with more analogue styles such as hand-painted murals, ceramics and screen prints.
Her colourful characters and vivid subjects are typically found in nature, inviting viewers to find the beauty in everyday simplicity.
