Green Press
In 2012, Green Press owner James McLoughlin hated veggies. This changed when he moved to New York for a change of scenery and to find entrepreneurial ideas. Some dietary changes, food education and juice-truck employment later, and his seeds of change had well and truly sprouted.
He started Green Press with brother Miles in 2013, to bridge the gap between health and convenience. Miles had been working in Michelin-star restaurants in NYC. Now, he ensures the juices are accompanied by satisfying food such as acai bowls and bliss balls.
Their little bright shop has an open kitchen packed with blenders, juicers and fresh produce. The counter and fridges are full of clean treats, cold-pressed organic juices, smoothies and salads (add egg or poached chicken for extra protein).
Don’t miss the Krispy Klean doughnuts, made from egg and various forms of coconut, then iced with fluffy cashew cream. Both the spiced pumpkin and chocolate flavours are sweet with a moreish texture.
The juices are devised with help from naturopath Reece Carter, who signs off on all Green Press products. James comes up with the names, such as Cayenne West (carrot, orange, turmeric, ginger, cayenne pepper); Unicorn Tears (almonds, vanilla, cinnamon, dates, coconut water); and Beets Don’t Kale My Vibe (beetroot, kale, lemon, carrot, parsley). Sweet.
