Features

Marlowe's Way is a very sneaky cafe. Hidden in a narrow alley in Sydney's CBD, this New York-style coffee shop is a challenge to find. Once found, however, it is a marvel. The cosy space is full of hand-drawn murals depicting cartoon city wildlife and the place is lit by tungsten lights hanging from brass pipes.

Marlowe's Way even has its own house blend, roasted by Little Marionette. The "Bankistan" blend, so called for the ridiculous amount of banks in the area, is offered alongside a rotating single origin and a range of handcrafted teas.

All coffees are served with one of 20 individually themed teaspoons. At the start of each week a "magic spoon" is chosen, and the lucky customer who receives it earns a second coffee for free. An "M" for "magic" is also scrawled on one in every 20 takeaway coffee cup.

Keeping with the New York theme, the cafe also has a simple range of home-style Italian meals. The handwritten menus change daily, but typically contain a pasta dish, a few fresh salads and a delicious range of paninis. A menu highlight is the pork and fennel sausage panini with oregano, cabbage and tomoato relish.
