Yatala Drive-In will reopen this coming Saturday after the state government’s partial relaxation of stay-at-home rules.
The enormously popular drive-in cinema has been closed since the federally mandated shutdown of public venues kicked in on March 23. It announced its relaunch via a social media post on late Sunday afternoon but warned there would be strict social distancing rules in place.
Tickets will be available by online pre-purchase only to ensure contactless entry; the venue will be running at 50 per cent capacity; restrooms will be for emergency use only; and guests are requested to bring their own garbage bags in order to dispose of their rubbish at home. Normal social distancing rules will apply to the snack bar, and the drive-in is also showing single movies rather than double features in order to limit the use of facilities.

The cost on the weekend will be $35 per car, which covers up to six people, with a higher $75-per-car price including dinner from the snack bar.
