If you’ve been looking of an excuse to add a four-legged fur baby to your family – here it is.

This weekend, the RSPCA is reducing its adoption fees in order to rehome as many pets as possible. Normally, adopting a puppy could cost you up to $650, but with this weekend’s Clear the Shelter event you can adopt for just $29.

All of the RSPCA's animals (excluding horses) will be available and, in keeping with its usual policy, adult cats and dogs can be adopted for free. Clear the Shelter is happening across all RSPCA shelters in Australia (except for Western Australia and Tasmania).

But remember, while it may be tempting to grab a pet for cheap, think seriously about whether or not adoption is for you.
